Agrovoltech is a strategic industrial research project around agrivoltaic technologies, which focuses on the study and analysis of agronomic sensors and new intelligent algorithms and the use of the latest technologies in IoT and Cloud services.
Through this novel concept of an intelligent agrovoltaic system compatible with crops and harvests sensitive to climate changes, the project aims to ensure the supply of raw materials in the food industry, facing the effects of climate change that may reduce its productive capacity. and compromise its viability.
The project will deploy a complex sensor network that will allow obtaining information in real time about the state of the crop. This information will be interpreted and analyzed, in turn, by intelligent algorithms thanks to the previously developed plant models and it will be the system itself that determines the actions to be carried out to guarantee optimal development of the crop.
With all this, the aim is to take the step towards the modernization of the agri-food sector and the integrated management of the means of production through the use of precision agriculture, managing agricultural plots on the basis of observation, measurement and action. against inter and intra crop variability.
The project consortium is coordinated by the Basque Country Energy Cluster and is made up of the Clúster Alimentario de Galicia (Clusaga), an ICT company (LIBELIUM), a technology startup (POWERFULTREE) and a company specialized in consulting on energy efficiency and sustainability (PISA). Agrovoltech receives funding from the 2023 call for the support program for Agrupaciones Empresariales Innovadoras (AEI) of Ministerio de Industria, Comercio y Turismo.
