DIG4.0VO (Industrial research for the development of a collaborative platform based on AI to achieve a competitive, sustainable egg value chain committed to animal welfare) aims to improve the competitiveness of SMEs in the laying and hatching poultry sector, in response to the numerous challenges in the sector in recent years. Its objective is to deploy a battery of innovations based on the implementation of Biotechnology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions in key processes, focusing on food, animal welfare, quality and optimization of operational processes, without compromising companies efficiency and profitability.
The project aims to optimize feeding to improve animal well-being, reduce the incidence of diseases and improve animal digestibility, all through the incorporation of new postbiotics. In addition, feed formulations will be developed based on the reuse of by-products from the food industry, which will favor the stimulation of egg laying, strengthen the immune and digestive systems, and improve egg quality in general.
To control all processes, a collaborative platform will be developed that will use AI to monitor all production data, input and energy management to generate the best production scenarios under the initial premises of the project: optimizing the quality of products and increasing the efficiency of processes to maximize the profitability of production.
The project consortium includes the poultry sector company Campomayor, the functional animal feed company Pentabiol, the technology company ASM Soft, the Fundación Instituto Tecnológico de Galicia (ITG), and the innovation and sustainability consultancy in the food sector Medrar Smart Solutions.
DIG4.0VO receives funding from the 2023 call of the support program for Innovative Business Groups (AEI) of the Ministerio de Industria, Comercio y Turismo and is coordinated by the Galician Food Cluster (Clusaga).
