The project HSI-FOOD - Research on the industrial applicability of hyperspectral photonic technology for the determination of quality parameters in food has the general objective of testing the use of hyperspectral photonic technology for the determination of quality parameters in raw materials and final product in different food matrices. For this, a hyperspectral camera prototype will be used to measure the parameters of greatest interest for a series of selected food matrices, with the aim of looking for correlations through a mathematical model that enables the prediction of these target parameters.
HSI-FOOD receives funding from the 2020 call for the support programme for Agrupaciones Empresariales Innovadoras (AEI) of the national Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism.
The project is coordinated by Clusaga, being partners the technology centre Anfaco-Cecopesca, and the companies Freshcut SL and Lugar da Veiga SLL.
Objectives of HSI-FOOD
- Evaluating the fit of hyperspectral technology within the production process of companies, seeking improvements in the quality control of raw materials and products.
- Implementing machine learning techniques and intensive computational processing systems that allow the development of predictive mathematical models for quantitative nutritional or quantitative characterisation of raw materials, intermediate or final products on the production process.
- Analysing mechanisms that enable its effective implementation in industrial processes and thus break down technological barriers and reduce current costs.
